Sports Plus helps children, teens and young adults realize their potential. Our programs are positive, successful places to learn sports, fitness and social skills. Each class has a player to coach ratio of no higher than four to one, with swim classes being one to one. Our curriculum is derived from thousands of hours of experience and research by a team of special educators, therapists, trainers, parents and coaches. It is ever changing and evolving.

For teens and young adults who have spent significant time in Sports Plus programs, our unique Teen & Young Adult Social Program takes place monthly, with a variety of different activities and locations.

SPORTS PLUS is a non-profit organization that offers a uniquely structured program for participants ages 5 to 25, who are able to follow simple directions with mild to moderate autism spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD and other developmental disabilities.

The SPORTS PLUS Track, Field, and Fitness Program is an innovative program that focuses on fitness and related training techniques and track and field events.  It will provide a memorable, fun, and exciting experience both for beginners and for those with prior experience.

The classes have been specifically devised by experienced runners and trainers. They will be lead by subject area experts and by veteran SPORTS PLUS staff members. Each class will begin with the whole group working on various speed, agility, plyometric, quickness and fitness drills. The goal of the drills is to improve body awareness, mechanics, performance and fitness levels. The classes will then be broken into small groups where they will learn and focus on a variety of track and field events. We will establish a base level in each event for each child and then track their individual improvement as the season progresses. The season will conclude with a medal ceremony.

As always, this SPORTS PLUS program will feature unique skill development techniques, highly trained coaches, special education professionals, consistent encouragement and positive reinforcement. Fun, teamwork, social skills and sportsmanship are stressed at all classes. Participant to coach ratios are maintained at no higher than 3 to 1. Participation of typically developing siblings in each class is encouraged to allow siblings to play together and act as role models. The SPORTS PLUS model permits extra help or additional challenge to be provided as needed to participants with a wide variety of skills. The end result is a successful, rewarding and exciting physical and social experience for children and their families.

Class space is limited so you are encouraged to register immediately. If you have any questions or need more information you may contact the SPORTS PLUS program at (301)452-3781 or by e-mail at info@playsportsplus.org.

Sports Plus is pleased to invite you to join us for the fun and excitement of our eleventh annual summer camp. Our camp will feature a variety of sports, fitness, and teamwork     activities and games that you have come to know and enjoy in our sports programs. We will combine them with additional sports, dance, music, art, yoga and science activities. On Fridays, there will be a field trip component. Most of all we will have fun while using sports, play, social activities and the arts to learn things that have benefits far beyond our summer camp program.

Our summer camp will be small and personal. We know your children, teen and young adults, and they know us. Our campers have already experienced our school year programs.  The campers feel comfortable and we work hard to help them to learn, improve their sports and social skills and most importantly have fun! Class sizes do not exceed 12 children. Our camper to paid staff ratio will be no higher than 3 to 1. Numerous experienced volunteers will also be present to assist our paid staff. Many of our Sports Plus coaches will be at all sessions along with special education professionals and experts in other fields. Campers will be placed in age and skill appropriate peer groups.

Our sports activities will include many of those that you have come to know from our highly successful sports and swim programs and others such as martial arts, yoga, fitness training and volleyball. We will also spend time discussing vocabulary, rules and strategy of each game and good sportsmanship. We will also feature our very popular art, yoga and dance segments. A lunch break and supervised outdoor free play will also be provided each day. We will have exclusive use of the gym and classrooms during our entire camp time.

As always, Sports Plus will feature unique skill development techniques, highly trained coaches, special education professionals, consistent encouragement, and positive                  reinforcement. Fun, teamwork, social skills and sportsmanship are stressed at all classes.     Participation of typically developing siblings in our camp is encouraged to allow siblings to play together and act as role models.
